OUTSIDE THE CAMP

When I believed the true Gospel,

God’s Spirit came to dwell,

Inside my mortal body and,

My soul was saved from hell.

*

My joy was indescribable,

I was no longer lost.

I didn’t understand as yet,

That there would be a cost.

*

I shared my joy with family,

And friends I knew so well.

Most didn’t think the news was good,

And many said farewell.

*

Such love the Lord has for these souls,

And love them I do too,

But all the pleadings of the Word,

Convinced them not of truth.

*

So then I said the church will be,

My family brand new.

I never thought some from the “church”,

Would one day leave me too.

*

But though I lose all things for Christ,

Like Paul I count it gain.

Heaven will only be my home,

If I am born again.

*

I travel down the lonely road,

Like those who’ve gone before.

I bear reproach, outside the camp,

To Him I will go forth.

Luke 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
