I was visiting my father at the nursing home. feeling discouraged, when I saw someone lift their hands and praise the Lord. It was contagious, and my heart leapt for joy. Later that day I wrote this poem …

Does your heart ever leap,

When you hear the Lord praised,

And Honor is given,

To the Ancient of Days?

When suddenly someone,

Exalts Jesus the King,

With their hands lifted up,

Thankful praises to sing.

When your heart is heavy,

And your hope all but gone,

Does some old saint singing,

Fill your heart with a song?

Do you sense the Lord’s joy,

Does your heart skip a beat?

Do you feel His comfort,

And presence so sweet?

The Lord often reminds,

We’ve no cause to despair,

For He’s with us always,

And our burdens He’ll bear.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
