THE DELAY

Years ago I had a desire to become involved in Vacation Bible School (VBS), so I asked the Lord to open a door for me to do so. The years passed and no opportunity came. I all but forgot my prayer until one day, years later, it came to mind again and I asked the Lord why He didn’t answer my prayer, because I thought it was a good prayer. I also told the Lord that I accepted His ways in my life, and that He knew best, even though I didn’t understand. It was at that point that my prayer was answered.

THE DELAY

Once upon a summertime past,

I talked to the Lord, and this I asked,

Remember my prayer for a VBS,

Lord, why did it never come to pass?

*

A good prayer I thought, for the summer season,

But Lord I know you have a reason,

I will trust whatever comes from your hand,

But I must confess Lord, I don’t understand.

*

A still small voice I heard in my spirit,

“Do it now” … I could hardly believe it!

The timing was perfect, this I now saw,

The children around me, the Lord would draw.

*

I was so excited, all doubts were gone,

That very summer a VBS was born,

Neighborhood children, so many were they,

Gathered together they learned of God’s ways.

*

The Bible was taught to these sweet little ones,

A beautiful work our God had begun,

They ate and they played, and sang many a song,

We had VBS for three summers long!

*

The Lord hears all of the prayers we have prayed,

And in His great wisdom sometimes He delays,

To answer until the time is just right,

Giving us seasons of joy and delight!

The VBS lasted for three summers. The parents were very open to their children coming and some even asked if we would have another VBS when summer came around again the following year. I gave each parent a sheet of paper showing them what would be taught, and I asked them to sign a permission slip for their children to attend. I also asked the parents to list any food allergies their children had. (I used to work for a large church.) These were the children and families that I knew, and my grandchildren knew, from the neighborhood.

1 Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Delay is not denial…

John 11:14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

LOVE FROM ABOVE

Love your parents while you still have them. You’ll have no regrets when they’re gone.

LOVE FROM ABOVE

Love your parents, love each one,

Love them for the good they’ve done,

Love them hard and love them long,

Love them still when they are wrong.

*

Love them young when all is bright,

Love them old in dark of night,

Love them oh so joyfully,

Love them in humility.

*

Love them with what matters most,

Love them in the Holy Ghost,

Love them truly from your heart,

Love them dear before you part.

*

Love a gift from God above,

Love is lasting, only love.

When their time on earth is spent,

You’ll have treasure heaven sent.

1 Corinthians 13  And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

DEAR GINA,

I wrote this poem for my granddaughter, Gina.

Dear Gina, – A Poem

Today is your birthday, I miss your sweet face!
I do wish that we both could somehow embrace.
Instead, I am sending you all of my love,
And pray the Lord bless you from His heaven above.

As you grow older and see the world’s treasures,
And day by day, you see all the world’s pleasures,
Remember there’s One, He who calls you apart,
To give, not to the world, but to Jesus your heart.

Count all of your blessings on this special day,
All the gifts and good wishes coming your way.
Enjoy all that the Lord has given to you,
And thank Jesus for life and for so much more too.

Well, these are my thoughts for you sweet little girl.
You are growing up fast, like a wind that whirls.
I pray in the flurry of life’s hectic pace,
You step aside, quietly, and seek the Lord’s face.

Love, Nana

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

NAY NAY

Nay Nay was adopted from an animal shelter. That was her name there. She wasn’t in the best of health, but family members took her home and nursed her back to health and happiness. She was a friendly dog and a good pet. Nay’s time on this earth is now over. Sad. We’ll miss her a lot. It makes me think that we too, one by one, will reach the end of our days, and we too will no longer be on this earth.  We are all but dustHere’s a little poem I wrote, remembering Nay Nay …

NAY NAY

On this the day that Nay Nay went,
We will remember time we spent,
And all the joy she brought our hearts,
Though this sad day we are to part.

An answered prayer from God above,
A little dog for us to love,
She has a place inside our heart,
A memory that won’t depart.

Her time upon this earth is done,
Sweet little Nay, sweet little one,
The Lord, He gives and takes away,
We bless His Name in all His ways.

Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Are you saved?

DON’T CRY FOR ME

When death knocks believers will be separated from their loved ones on earth. But if their loved ones are saved, born again, the separation will only be temporary. For that reason believers do not sorrow as others sorrow who have no hope.
*
DON’T CRY FOR ME

Don’t cry for me when I am gone,

I’d much prefer you sing a song,

A song with both your arms upraised,

A song of joy because you’re saved.

*

Don’t cry for me, don’t be sorry,

We will meet again in glory,

If you are truly born again,

We’ll see each other once again.

*

For God so loved the world you see,

He died for us at Calvary,

I prayed for you while still on earth,

For my loved ones to have new birth.

*
*

I know you’ll cry and I would too,

Yet sorrow not as others do,

Set your desire on things above,

Jesus loves you, receive His love.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
